The New York Giants’ front office is being revamped this offseason — but not by design. Team president and co-owner John Mara made the decision to retain general manager Joe Schoen despite the Giants’ 3-14 finish to the 2024-25 season. However, Schoen is in danger of losing another key member of his front office this offseason.
Giants assistant GM Brandon Brown lands second interview with Raiders
According to Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports, the Las Vegas Raiders will interview Giants assistant general manager Brandon Brown in person on Monday for their general manager opening. This will be Brown’s second interview with Las Vegas. His first interview with the team was conducted virtually.
Brown has been with Big Blue since 2022, joining Schoen’s staff after being with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2017 to 2021. The Giants’ official team website credits Brown as an “instrumental” member of the team’s “2022 roster renovation” that resulted in the franchise’s first playoff berth since 2016.
Last offseason, Brown received a second interview for the Las Angeles Chargers’ general manager position, but was ultimately passed up in favor of Joe Hortiz. Brown is a rising star in league circles and his second interview with the Raiders will make him a finalist for the position.
The Giants already lost a key front-office exec this offseason
Brown would be the second key front-office member to leave the Giants this offseason. Ryan Cowden, who served as the executive advisor to general manager Joe Schoen for the last two years, recently left to fill a role in the New England Patriots’ new front office.
Cowden was granted his release by the Giants on Monday and made the move to Foxborough to reunite with new Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel (the two shared time with the Tennessee Titans from 2018 to 2023).
Having already lost Cowden, losing Brown, too, would be a major blow to the Giants’ front office. Both Brown and Cowden are considered bright football minds and were seen as critical members of the Giants’ football operations. Brown is certainly qualified for a general manager job and he could land one sooner rather than later.
