After the Los Angeles Rams reworked a deal that will keep Matthew Stafford around, the New York Giants are now in a position to look for another veteran.
According to a recent report from Connor Hughes of SNY, that could be former Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson.
"The #Giants took their big swing on Matt Stafford. That failed. Now multiple sources expect them to concentrate their efforts on getting the No. 1 pick from Tennessee, and pairing the QB they select with a veteran... Russell Wilson, Sam Darnold are two others the Giants are discussing, per sources. A couple people I talked to believed Wilson to be the most likely outcome," Hughes posted.
Wilson has been linked to the Giants multiple times over the past few weeks, as his future with the Pittsburgh Steelers is up in the air.
The Steelers are looking for a franchise quarterback, and while they might not have one if they decide to bring Justin Fields back, he's at least much younger than Wilson, and can offer them a potential option if he develops how some expect him to.
Wilson could back up whoever the Giants decide to draft if they end up in a position to select a quarterback. At this stage of his career, as all Broncos fans know, that's probably what he's better suited for.
