The New York Giants are heading into a big season for the team, and they just got an actually good predication.
The New York Giants are back in training camp, and this year will be unlike any other. The big change for the Giants, of course, is their quarterback room, which is headed up by veteran Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, along with rookie Jaxson Dart and returning signal-called Tommy DeVito. These players are all still under head coach Brian Daboll, and this is a make or break year for him.
Last season, Giants had a 3-14 record for the 2024-25 run, and they were last place in the NFC East last season. But, this year could be better. At least, that’s the plan. Now, the Giants have a little bit of wind on their backs going into the new season.
Right now, it’s pretty early to look at NFL power rankings but not too early. NFL analysts began sharing their power rankings as early as February, so August isn’t too early. Now, Ralph Vacchiano at Fox Sports has released his 2025 NFL power rankings, and it’s a little comforting where he has teams land.
The New York Giants and the 2025 NFL Power Rankings
In his piece, which was published on Monday, July 28, Vacchiano admits that these are early power rankings that that things could change a lot before the first NFL snap takes place. In the piece, he states, “The summer could change a lot, especially when the preseason games (and the injuries) begin. But for now, here’s our preseason look at how the league is ranked from bottom to top after free agency and the draft, and now that every NFL team has officially opened camp.”

As for the New York Giants, sure, they aren’t in the top 10 or even top 20. But, they aren’t last. They’re No. 26 on the tally.
What matters more than their number is what Vacchiano says about the Giants. He says glowing things about the team.
“They did a really nice job of rebuilding their roster and plugging holes in the offseason,” he notes. “They’ve got the best quarterback they’ve had in years in Russell Wilson, which should help an offense that has been dismal for most of the last decade.”
Vacchiano added, “He and receiver Malik Nabers could really make some noise. And they have a potentially devastating defensive line and pass rush if No. 3 overall pick Abdul Carter is as good as everyone thinks. Their problem is they won just three games last season so the climb to respectability will be steep.” He does add that the Giants’ schedule “is a killer,” which isn’t great.
The NFL’s Best Team Going Into the New Season
Now, let’s see which team Vacchiano picks as the best in the NFL heading into the 2025-26 season. “The defending champs deserve the No. 1 spot for now, but they only have a tenuous hold on it,” he notes in the piece. He adds that “as long as Barkley and quarterback Jalen Hurts are healthy, they are as good, deep and talented as any team in the league.”
So, the team to beat is the reigning champions: the Philadelphia Eagles. There’s no surprise with that pick.
