Giants can kill two birds with one stone by adding recently released offensive weapon for Russell Wilson or whoever starts at QB

Noah Fant has been released by the Seattle Seahawks. With the move, the Seahawks free up $8.91 million in salary cap space. Any team is now free to sign the experienced tight end. With the Seahawks, Fant totaled 130 receptions for 1,400 yards and five touchdowns.

The New York Giants are a bit limited when it comes to pass catcher depth. Both at tight end and wide receiver, the secondary options are not incredibly notable. The Giants could look to make a move to sign Fant.

Giants' potential need at tight end

For New York's unit, the tight end position doesn't hold a ton of experience whatsoever. They've got some confidence in Theo Johnson as the young starter, but he is far from a proven commodity so far in his pro career. Daniel Bellinger is slated to be his backup.

Adding Fant to the mix could make plenty of sense, and it would create a unique twist for both Fant and Russell Wilson's NFL careers.

Fant's connection to Russell Wilson

The veteran tight end was a part of the trade that originally sent the veteran quarterback to the Denver Broncos. Fant headed to Seattle, where plenty of people felt that Wilson would play his entire career. Ultimately, the Seahawks chose to move on and received a massive package for the QB, including Fant.

If New York acquired Fant, it would bring that trade a bit more full circle. The Broncos certainly did not get the most out of Wilson's tenure, but the experienced QB may be the starter for the G-Men this season.

Jameis Winston and rookie Jaxson Dart are the other two potential starting QB options for New York. We will see who wins the competition for Week 1 and if the Giants look to add the recently released tight end.
