Giants announce $45 million contract update for Abdul Carter

The No. 3 overall pick is officially under contract with the New York Giants.

With a week before the start of OTAs, the Giants were able to get Carter under contract on his four-year rookie deal, the team announced Thursday.

The contract is worth a fully guaranteed $45,255,180 and includes a fifth-year team option, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

At $11.3 million per season, Carter is already the 22nd highest-paid player among NFL edge defenders, per Spotrac. His $45 million guaranteed ranks 11th among all NFL edge rushers as well.

Carter transitioned from the off-ball linebacker spot to edge rusher in 2024, and he made it look seamless. He excelled in the new role, racking up 12 sacks and 66 total pressures across 16 games during his final season with the Nittany Lions.

The Giants have a formidable pass-rush on paper as Carter will join fellow edge rushers Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux while All-Pro talent Dexter Lawrence mans the interior.
