With the Pittsburgh Steelers trading George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday, it seems that the Steelers are in the market for a secondary wide receiver to pair with the recently acquired DK Metcalf.
While Pickens remains one of the more talented wide receivers in the NFL, his antics between plays have been the subject of much scrutiny in recent seasons. That seemingly was the driving force behind the Steelers' desire to move Pickens, despite the need it would create for them. In the immediate aftermath, one of the early names speculated to be of interest to the Steelers is Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore.

One former NFL scout, Matt Williamson, seems to believe that the Steelers have an interest in trading for Moore. In theory, the interest makes sense as Metcalf can be the target on the outside for the Steelers' offense, while Moore lines up in the slot or on the outside, depending on coverage.
A DJ Moore trade makes little sense for the Chicago Bears
While the move would make sense for the Steelers, it makes almost no sense for the Bears. Sure, the Bears have a plethora of potential play-makers in Moore, Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III, Colston Loveland, and Cole Kmet.
However, the Bears would likely still prefer to have some experience in their wide receiver room. Odunze is entering his second season in the NFL, and while his ceiling remains high, he is far from a finished product. The same can be applied to Burden, who is entering his first season in the NFL. Removing Moore from that group would leave the Bears incredibly inexperienced at one of the more important positions in Ben Johnson's offense.
Sure, perhaps Johnson has been challenging players like Moore this offseason with his comments about there being no depth chart, but that is a far cry from saying the Bears should trade the veteran wide receiver.
This season, if the connection between Moore and Caleb Williams remains off, then a trade could be a possible outcome. However, that is not a point the Bears are at currently.
