On Monday, the Las Vegas Raiders finally introduced quarterback Geno Smith at the team facility in Henderson, Nevada. During his introductory press conference, he made it a point to shout out one player on the roster that he strives to be like.
"Maxx (Crosby) is a guy who I've played against who has been a perennial All-Pro," Smith said. "The thing that I love about him is that he plays the entire game, and he plays hard the entire game. That's something that is rare in this league. ... I want to do the same thing; I want to be like Maxx."
Smith already has the right attitude coming into Las Vegas, as Crosby is considered the main voice in the Raiders' locker room. In recent years, the team has struggled to find a strong leader under center, but if Smith can provide that for the offense, then the team should feel confident about its chances.
In addition to being a great veteran leadership presence for the Silver and Black, Smith is one of the most accurate passers in the NFL and already has a great connection with head coach Pete Carroll. If he can reliably get the ball to star pass-catchers like tight end Brock Bowers and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, then there may be no limit to what this Raiders team can do.
