Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Geno Smith compared an ascending receiver on the team to a former All-Pro.

During a press conference after Tuesday's practice, Smith praised third-year wide receiver Tre Tucker and compared him to Santana Moss.

"I think he’s really gonna be a big contributor to this offense," Smith said of Tucker via Jesse Merrick of the Silver and Black Sports Network. "He's the spitting image of Santana Moss."

Tucker took a step forward in 2024, posting 539 yards on 47 receptions and three total touchdowns (two receiving, one rushing). The 24-year-old should be one of the Raiders' top wide receivers along with Jakobi Meyers and rookies Dont'e Thornton and Jack Bech.

Comparing Tucker to Moss is lofty expectations from Smith. Both players do have similar measurables, but Moss tallied four 1,000-yard campaigns during his 14-year career and was a second-team All-Pro selection with Washington in 2005.

During that 2005 campaign, Moss posted 84 receptions for 1,483 yards and nine touchdowns. The Miami product mostly operated in the slot during his NFL career, something Tucker has the ability to do, though the 2023 third-round pick has been lined up out wide for most of his snaps through two seasons.

If Tucker can even be somewhat close to what Moss was, the Raiders will have a fantastic No.3 pass-catching option to go along with Meyers and All-Pro tight end Brock Bowers.

The Cincinnati product has the skillset to have a breakout season in 2025, but he has to find some consistency and build chemistry with Smith, which seems to be going well.
