Former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback goes down with calf injury before revenge game

Former Pittsburgh Steelers and now Baltimore Ravens cornerback Arthur Maulet will miss his potential revenge game against Pittsburgh after suffering a calf injury during the Ravens' Thursday practice. He was ruled out with the injury on Friday, which officially will thwart any chance of him playing.

Maulet had played the previous three games after missing time with injuries already this season. A slot cornerback known for his blitzing skills, the Ravens could have used Maulet to try to slow down Pittsburgh’s run game, but instead, they will see more Ar’Darius Washington and could use Kyle Hamilton in the slot.

The Steelers released Maulet after the 2022 season, and he signed with the Ravens that summer, fighting to make their final roster. Maulet played with the Steelers for two seasons in a rotation in the slot over his time, and he was primarily used as a blitzer for the team.

Earlier this week, Maulet talked about how the Steelers would plan to play Lamar Jackson and how that gameplan could be exploitable by this version of Jackson. It remains to be seen if Pittsburgh will employ that strategy again after using it a week earlier against Jayden Daniels.
