NBA experts always say the playoffs are completely different than the regular season, and the New York Knicks are about to be reminded of that.
Speaking about the Knicks, Wally Szczerbiak was very confident in the team and thinks they will flip a switch during their first-round matchup against the Detroit Pistons.
“I think the best basketball is ahead for this team,” Szczerbiak said, via KNICKS ON MSG.
He knows the series will be physical and tough, but he believes the Knicks will respect, but not fear, their Detroit opponents.
Szczerbiak reminded viewers how the Knicks were somewhat lacking in the preseason and then suddenly turned it on when 2024-25 officially kicked off.
He thinks it is likely that they will reach another level when the playoffs begin, and New York fans will be very happy with what they see.
There are worries about this New York team, especially when it comes to the Pistons.
Detroit won the season series 3-1, and they have looked like a completely different team this year.
They will enter the playoffs with enthusiasm, health, youth, and something to prove.
Meanwhile, the Knicks haven’t been playing the sort of basketball they want, and Josh Hart recently admitted that.
They know they have to play better and stay healthy, which was an issue for them last season.
Both teams have a lot to prove in this opening round: if the Pistons win, they will confirm that they are the real deal and this regular season wasn’t a fluke.
And if the Knicks win, they will shake off some of the worries that fans had and receive a boost of confidence.
Szczerbiak said it’s time for the Knicks to turn it on and step up, so will they?
