Former Illini Marcus Domask waived by Chicago Bulls

Former Illinois basketball star, Marcus Domask, had a very brief stint with the Chicago Bulls. Recently, it was announced that Domask had made the initial training camp roster for the Bulls and even went through Media Day.  However, that stint barely lasted which goes to show the cruel business side of the NBA. The decision to cut Domask, however, is not all that surprising. The former Illinois basketball star barely got court time during the 2024 NBA summer league and appeared to struggle without the ball in his hands.

Chicago Bulls Waive Former Illini Marcus Domask: What's Next for the Forward?

Marcus now faces a crossroads in his NBA career. He could likely spend some time in the G-league and perhaps that is the reason behind this waiving. On the flip side, I do think that Marcus Domask could play a rather significant role in European ball.

Not all is lost

Former Illini Kendrick Nunn went to Greece last season after struggling his way through the 2022 NBA season. Nunn found his footing and played a significant role on the team that won the 2023-2024 Greek League championships. That kind of option is certainly there for Marcus Domask. Otherwise, former Illini like Malcolm Hill were able to stand out while in the G-League. Hill averaged over 20 points on the New Orleans Pelicans’ G-league affiliate and has intermittently signed 10-day contracts with the team on an as-needed basis.

Regardless, the future is still very bright for Marcus Domask. He will find a situation and role that suits his current game style best and pushes him to improve.
