A former Green Bay Packers linebacker has found a new home in the NFL. Defensive end Justin Hollins, who played parts of two seasons as a linebacker for the Packers, has just signed a practice squad deal with the Washington Commanders, the NFC East team announced on Thursday, via X (formerly Twitter).

Hollins played for the Packers in 2022 and 2023. Green Bay took him off of the waivers in November 2022 after playing 10 games for the Los Angeles Rams in the same year.  Hollins then saw action for the Packers in the 2022 NFL campaign for six games, accumulating 2.5 sacks to go with nine combined tackles, three tackles for losses, and four quarterback hits.

In March of 2023, Hollins was signed by the Packers to a one-year deal worth $1.28 million. In October of the same year, the Packers released Hollins. He then had stops with the New York Giants and the Los Angeles Chargers before finding his way to the Commanders last August. Washington released him just over a week later, but he’s back with the organization.

Hollins, who won a Super Bowl championship with the Rams in 2021, will look to get promoted to the main roster as he tries to kickstart his NFL career with the Commanders, who are 1-1 through two weeks and coming off a 21-18 win last Sunday at home over the New York Giants.

A fifth-round selection by the Denver Broncos in the 2019 NFL draft, Hollins has appeared in 67 games in the league so far in his career, amassing 10.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and 123 combined tackles.
