Former Georgia Bulldogs star tight end Brock Bowers has played in just two NFL games, but he's already making history.
Through his first two debuts for the Las Vegas Raiders, Bowers has hauled 12 receptions for 125 yards, the most receiving yards in franchise history among tight ends in their first two career games.
Are we even surprised? Not one bit.
Following Bowers' Week 1 debut where he finished with a team-high six catches for 58 yards, including three receptions for first downs, Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce made it clear that the rookie tight end was just getting started.
“I thought we saw just a glimpse of what it is and what he can be,” Pierce said. “What I really was excited about was him in the run game. I thought he had some really good examples of some blocks out there on their defensive ends, 52 [Khalil Mack] and 97 [Joey Bosa].
“But again, like any rookie, it’s his first game. I think he felt like he left some yards out there as well. But it was good for him to get into the flow of the game, get his first couple catches, make some plays, move the chains for us, and again, just keep involving him into our game plan.”
Bowers ended his second debut with nine receptions for 98 yards, best for second on the team behind wide receiver Davante Adams.
The Raiders selected Bowers with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Bowers left Georgia for the draft as a two-time national champion and two-time John Mackey Award winner, and the Bulldogs football program record holder for single-season receiving touchdowns with 13.
