Former Vancouver Canucks Assistant General Manager Laurence Gilman wasn't too pleased to hear Patrik Allvin's comments at the trade deadline regarding forward Brock Boeser.
One week ago, the Vancouver Canucks decided to stand pat at the National Hockey League's trade deadline, moving none of their pending unrestricted free agents including Brock Boeser, who will likely hit the open market on July 1st.
When speaking with reporters after the 12 pm PT deadline, Patrik Allvin said that Brock Boeser's value wasn't there and he didn't receive any offers he liked or that would benefit the Vancouver Canucks organization.
Ex-Canucks AGM Laurence Gilman unhappy with Patrik Allvin's comments
In a recent interview on Sekeres and Price, former Vancouver Canucks Assistant General Manager Laurence Gilman shared his thoughts on Patrik Allvin's comments about the trade deadline and Brock Boeser.
Gilman said that he didn't like how Patrik Allvin devalued Brock Boeser during that media availability last Friday.
'Let's hit the elephant in the room. I witnessed what was said and written about Brock Boeser. I didn't like the way Patrik Allvin characterized or devalued his player at his post deadline press conference.' Gilman said.He added, 'That's something that clearly I think is going to, if it hasn't already and I think it has already impacted the player's performance. I don't think it's going to mean spit in terms of the guy's market value if and when he gets to the market on July 1st. But it was certainly something that judging by what I've seen in the games the Canucks have played coming out of the deadline, something that I believe has affected this player and quite possibly has affected other players on his team.'
Since the trade deadline on Friday and the comments made by Patrik Allvin, Brock Boeser has just one assist and five shots on goal in four games.
Boeser touched on the comments from Patrik Allvin when speaking with reporters last Friday, saying that he hasn't had time to process what he heard but isn't trying to read into it too much and has been nothing but loyal to the organization over the years.
'Boeser told me & @risingaction post game that he did read Allvin's comments about the trade market for him & hasn't really processed all of it. Reemphasized how loyal he has been to #Canucks over the years & was more focused being better in tonight's game. Expects he'll speak to Allvin about it in the days ahead & is trying not to read too much into it. Is still open to an extension.' TSN's Farhan Lalji said on X.
The Vancouver Canucks now run the risk of losing Brock Boeser for nothing on July 1st and will need to find a replacement - a scoring winger, which won't be cheap.
