Former Vancouver Canucks defenseman Kevin Bieksa called out the team following their 6-3 loss to the Seattle Kraken on Hockey Night in Canada.
The Vancouver Canucks wrapped up their five-game road trip on Saturday night with a stop in Seattle and while the result wasn't what they hoped for, captain Quinn Hughes 'tweaked something', according to Rick Tocchet, which forced him to sit out the final nine minutes of the third period.
Kevin Bieksa has strong words for Vancouver Canucks on Hockey Night in Canada
Rick Tocchet's group won just one game on their five-game road trip, which came in overtime on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Kings, with losses coming against Vegas, Utah, Anaheim and Seattle, with the latter three below them in the Western Conference wild card race.
Following the loss to Seattle, former Vancouver Canucks defenseman Kevin Bieksa didn't mince his words when talking about the team's play lately and how they're not a hard group to play against.
'It's not a hard team to play against right now. You look at their coaching staff with Tocc and Footer - who had a ton of bite - and it's hard right now, when you have a team with some good players but not a lot of bite. Got a lot of stick checkers out there.' Bieksa said.
The Canucks should take a look at Kiefer Sherwood for example and how he brings physicality to the lineup and is hard to play against, and is well on his way to set a new NHL single-season hits record before the 2024-25 campaign ends.
Jake DeBrusk, Conor Garland and Dakota Joshua are three guys that are quite good in their respective roles and have a bit of snarl to their game, but they're players you need to rely on as well to bring that physicality night in, night out.
We'll have to wait and see if the Canucks respond in a positive way to Bieksa's comments with hopefully a physical and aggressive performance when they host the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night at Rogers Arena.
