The Green Bay Packers will likely use Sunday’s contest against the Chicago Bears as a tune up for their playoff run starting in two weeks. Green Bay is 11-5 heading into the final week of the season and are likely doing whatever it takes to get an advantage.
That includes having some free agent coaches in their facility.
Packers: Free Agent Coach Seen Walking Through Green Bay Facilities Prior To Bears Matchup
According to Matt Scheidman of The Athletic:
Just saw Luke Getsy walk into Packers practice. He was the QB coach here during Aaron Rodgers’ last two MVP seasons. Recently the Bears and Raiders OC.
Getsy worked for Green Bay between 2014-17 and again between 2019-21. He served as Matt LaFleur’s quarterback coach in 2020 and 2021 when Aaron Rodgers won back-to-back MVP awards. In addition to monitoring the Packers’ defense, he also helps out as a coach:
Getsy attended Green Bay’s practice Friday as the playoff-bound Packers (11-5) prepare for their regular-season finale with the Chicago Bears (4-12). Getsy was the Bears’ offensive coordinator from 2022-23 and filled the same role with Las Vegas this year.
“It’s good to have him back around,” LaFleur said Friday. “He’s known as the mayor around here, so he’s got a lot of long, lasting relationships with a lot of people in the building, and he’s just a positive guy to be around. So it’s been good.”
Two weeks after being fired from his old job, Robert Saleh visited a Packers practice field in October. Although Saleh’s background is in defense, he’s studied the Packers’ offense and provided input.
During their time as graduate assistants at Central Michigan about two decades ago, Saleh and LaFleur were good friends. From 2008-2009, they worked together as Houston Texans assistants.
