Former Alabama defensive lineman Jamil Burroughs is transferring to Mississippi State, according to a report Saturday by On3.
The 6-foot-3, 310-pound Burroughs spent the 2023 season at Miami without appearing in a game (reportedly due to eligibility issues), then sat out the 2024 season after leaving the Hurricanes in January. He was at Alabama from 2020-22, playing in 20 games and totaling seven tackles and two sacks.
Burroughs was a four-star recruit in Alabama’s 2020 signing class out of McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Ga. He played in six games for the Crimson Tide as a true freshman, three games in 2021 (when he redshirted) and 11 games in 2022.
Burroughs’ time at Alabama reportedly ended following an altercation with director of player development Josh Chapman, a former Crimson Tide defensive lineman. He entered the transfer portal in June of 2023.
