Fan Attempted To Punch Derrick White During Colorado Vs. Colorado State Game Last Weekend

Derrick White was attacked this past weekend by a fan in attendance for his alma mater, the University of Colorado's game against Colorado State. White, who was there to support his old stomping grounds, got punched in the face when a fan swung for him, after a verbal altercation with some CSU fans. It led to a huge skirmish, and all parties needed to be separated, as captured by TMZ Sports.

The scuffle was broken up pretty quickly, and the authorities were thankfully alerted almost instantly. White was seen later relocating to a different part of the stadium. According to reports, there was no police report filed, meaning that all parties saw it fit to just let the altercation slide without any further action.

TMZ Sports reached out to Derrick White and his camp for a comment on the matter, but they didn't respond, perhaps deeming the issue too small or insignificant for them to even comment on it.

White had been having a great year up until this issue, winning an NBA championship with the Boston Celtics, and then helping Team USA win a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. One can only hope that this incident didn't cause any injuries, or affect the mental health of White.

Derrick White will be looking to forget about this incident and move his focus toward the NBA season. The Celtics are looking to be the first team since the Warriors in 2018 to go back-to-back as NBA champions. Derrick White played an integral role for the Celtics last season and will be expected to play the same role next season.

Derrick White: Unsung Hero Of The Celtics

The Celtics had superstar and All-Star caliber players in Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kristaps Porzingis. Former All-Stars who are integral to the team like Al Horford and Jrue Holiday have been tasked with keeping the team in line and play a crucial role for the squad.

But many fans would agree that Derrick White is the unsung hero of the team. On any given night, White will play whatever role the team needs him, whether that be as a scorer, defender, provider, or just a hustle player.

Last season, White averaged 15.2 points, 5.2 assists, and 4.2 rebounds for the Celtics. While these numbers do not pop out of the stat sheet, the role White plays is indescribably important to the Celtics. The roster all know and appreciate the hard work that White puts in for them on a nightly basis.

Just like last season, White will be relied upon by the Celtics to, in no uncertain terms, do the dirty work for them, and play whatever role they need on the night. Having a versatile player like White on the roster is a blessing for Joe Mazzulla and the Celtics coaching staff, as he sets the tempo for the rest of the team.
