Familial ties to Chiefs' quarterbacks could lead a pair of prospects to Kansas City during or after the 2025 NFL Draft

The Kansas City Chiefs have a few players in the quarterback room with familial ties to prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Local prospects often earn attention for their ties to the team, but this is the rare year when a few Chiefs players—star quarterback Patrick Mahomes and backup quarterback Chris Oladokun—have draft-eligible siblings. That fact alone isn't exactly a reason for general manager Brett Veach to bring a player to Kansas City, but the NFL is often a "who you know" business.

Whether Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft, priority free agency, or time to invite prospects to the team's rookie minicamp, Veach could seek to bring these players in for their familial ties and football acumen.

Patrick Mahomes' half-brother, Rice's Graham Walker, could be Chiefs' next receiver-turned-tight end success story

Yes, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has a paternal half-brother. Yes, he also plays football and is eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft.

In three seasons at Brown in the Ivy League Conference, Graham Walker notched 127 receptions for 1,496 yards and 15 touchdowns. In his lone season playing tight end for the Rice Owls, Walker appeared in 12 games, catching 24 passes for 252 yards. According to a recent interview with Seven Days, Walker volunteered to convert to tight end in 2024. He says he got a "crash course in tight end training" and considers himself "a tight end who has the skills of a wide receiver."

At his pro day, Walker weighed in at 6-foot-3 and 243 pounds, running a 4.82s 40-yard dash, 18 reps of 225 on the bench press, a 7.16s three-cone, a 4.43s short shuttle, a 34.5-inch vertical jump, and a 114-inch broad jump (h/t to Alex Katson for verified pro day numbers).

Another connection: Equity Sports, the agency representing Mahomes, also represents Walker. They also represent other Chiefs players like Kareem Hunt and Nikko Remigio.

While the tight end position is new to Walker, he feels like the type who could fit into that H-Back role in Andy Reid's offense in Kansas City. They might be one of the teams willing to give him a shot as an undrafted free agent signing or a rookie minicamp invite. They've succeeded with wide receiver to tight end converts before (See: Jody Fortson).

Bowling Green's Jordan Oladokun is the 2025 NFL Draft sleeper the Chiefs need in the defensive back room

Chiefs third-string QB Chris Oladokun's younger brother, Jordan Oladokun, is one of the best cornerbacks in college football that you have probably never heard of. He wasn't invited to the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, which is understandable given his pro-day numbers. That doesn't take away from what he accomplished on the field.

In 2024, Jordan dominated his coverage responsibilities for the Falcons, allowing just 26 catches on 61 targets with no touchdowns, five interceptions (including a pick-six), eight passes defended, and an opponent passer rating of 18.4 (second-best in the entire FBS).

Oladokun was often asked to align in off-man coverage or zone at Bowling Green, but he plays fast and physically even without the NFL's preferred length or size (5-foot-10, 188 pounds, 30-inch arms). He's worth bringing in as a UDFA or training camp invite to see if he can reproduce what he accomplished at the college level in 2024. Maybe he's a nickel corner or safety in the NFL.
