Falcons TE Kyle Pitts makes strange history with bizarre stat improvement in 2024

Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts has been the definition of inconsistency in the eyes of fans, particularly in their fantasy leagues.

Falcons TE Kyle Pitts makes strange history in 2024

In his four years in the NFL, Pitts has topped 1,000 receiving yards just once (1,026 in 2021, his rookie campaign). Since then, he's failed to reach 700 yards and has not found the end zone frequently.

Despite that, Pitts made some strange NFL history in 2024 by improving upon that specific category.

Per CBS Sports, the 24-year-old is the only player in NFL history to increase his season touchdown total by exactly one score year after year, starting from one.

Pitts scored one touchdown in his rookie year, two in 2022, three in 2023 and four in 2024. No other player has ever done that.

While that is an incredible (and odd) achievement, it may be concerning if he can't seem to have a bigger impact in the end zone for the Falcons sooner than his pace implies.

Granted, Pitts has not had consistency under center in Atlanta. He's played with six different quarterbacks since he was drafted, of which rookie Michael Penix Jr. may become his permanent solution.

On top of that, he suffered an MCL sprain and missed seven games in 2022 which only contributed to his inconsistency issues.

Pitts will be looking to become more of a factor in Atlanta's offense in 2025 and scoring more than five touchdowns will likely be high on his priorities list to reach that goal.
