Falcons' Ray-Ray McCloud predicts Michael Penix Jr. will conquer Atlanta history in year two

The Atlanta Falcons are figuring out how to handle their contract issues, specifically concerning Kirk Cousins, who has them in a difficult predicament. Cousins is no longer the starting QB after just one season in Atlanta. ATL All Day’s Nick Halden believes the Falcons need to move on from Cousins before he brings drama into the locker room.

“It will be interesting to see if any potential landing spots present themselves throughout the season. If this happens and Penix plays as expected, it wouldn’t be shocking to see the Falcons turn the page on a player who continues to invite drama that should already be behind the improving franchise,” Halden wrote.

The Falcons are about to enter the Michael Penix Jr. era, and many are excited to see the young quarterback shine. While most are buying into the hype, Bleacher Report’s Damian Parson thinks Penix needs to improve his accuracy, ball placement, and completion percentage before fully embracing the expectations.

Former Falcons QB Michael Vick has observed Penix throughout the offseason and believes the second-year QB is set for a breakout season.

“I think this is gonna be an amazing season for him," Vick said on the Atlanta Falcons Podcast Network. "Just watching practices, it looks like everything has slowed down.”

Ray-Ray McCloud recently made a major prediction that solidifies his belief in Penix as the Falcons’ QB1. McCloud told Pro Football Sports Network that Penix will lead the Falcons to the promised land in his second year.

“Boy, I’m excited, and I’m not gonna be surprised by any of it,” McCloud said. “I’ve watched [Penix] every day for the last year at practice, and I’m just ready to see him go into an experienced year, a polished year, and see how it goes — go all the way to the Super Bowl.”

Penix has had plenty of hype, but now one of his own teammates has publicly declared that he can take the Falcons to the mountaintop. Penix looked good in limited action last season, and now it’s on the record that he has the potential to bring the Falcons something they’ve never had before — a Lombardi Trophy.
