The Atlanta Falcons entered Wednesday with only three safeties on their active roster. Richie Grant signed a contract with the San Francisco 49ers, while Justin Simmons and Micah Abernathy remain unsigned but could return to Atlanta. Finally, excluding Jessie Bates III, the Falcons’ other two safeties have combined for 20 games and four starts.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Falcons have signed former Los Angeles Rams and Carolina Panthers safety Jordan Fuller to a contract. As Pelissero points out, Fuller reunites with head coach Raheem Morris, who was the Rams defensive coordinator from 2021 to 2023. The 27-year-old former sixth-round pick from 2020 has 55 career regular season starts to his name.
The newcomer had a rough 2024 campaign with Carolina

The Carolina Panthers signed Jordan Fuller to a one-year, $3.25 million contract last year. He had a rough 2024 campaign with Carolina, missing early in the season with an injury, and upon returning, struggled in coverage and was a healthy scratch later in the year. Fuller recorded 54 tackles and one pass deflection, allowing 12 receptions on 15 targets for 161 yards, two touchdowns, and a 151.0 passer rating in nine starts. He missed Weeks 4-9 with a hamstring injury and was a healthy scratch in Weeks 16 and 17.
