Kyle Pitts' rookie season remains by far his best campaign with the Falcons.
After so much promise, Pitts has been mostly a bust at tight end in Atlanta.
Now entering the final year of his rookie contract, the option season, Pitts might not be long for his drafted city.
He's exactly the kind of high-upside play that a team might want to take a chance on in a trade.
And fittingly, there are two teams out there with connections to Pitts that would make sense, according to Pro Football Network's Sterling Xie.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have Arthur Smith as their offensive coordinator. He used to be Pitts' head coach in Atlanta.
And the Los Angeles Rams have Dave Ragone as their quarterbacks coach. He used to be Pitts' offensive coordinator with the Falcons.
The Steelers do have Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington, so Pitts would be more of a luxury acquisition for them. But given his overall wide receiver-like skillset, he could be a matchup nightmare in the same passing game that also features big targets DK Metcalf and George Pickens.
The Rams are either aging or inexperienced in their tight end room, so Pitts could be a nice try to give Matthew Stafford another athletic pass catcher.
The Falcons likely couldn't expect a ton in return in a deal for Pitts, but it might be worth a shot. He averaged a career-low 35.4 receiving yards per game in 2024.
Unless Atlanta thinks it can still unlock Pitts and make him a strong target for Michael Penix Jr., a trade makes a lot of sense.
