Falcons' Bijan Robinson gets $20.7 million contract update

Bijan Robinson is approaching an exciting time.

The Atlanta Falcons superstar running back is eligible for a contract extension as soon as the 2025 season concludes.

Stick with it 'GMFB'

He'll have a chance to become the highest-paid running back in football. The current RB leader is Saquon Barkley, at $20.6 million per year.

"The Falcons running back is extension eligible after the 2025 season and could become the highest-paid player at his position whenever he inks a new deal," CBS Sports NFL analyst Tyler Sullivan wrote recently. "Robinson enjoyed a career year as a rusher in 2024, logging 1,456 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground. With Michael Penix Jr. ascending as the full-time starter, more stable quarterback play should only result in better numbers for Robinson. Saquon Barkley currently leads backs, making $20.6 million per year, and Robinson could rival that figure."

Those rushing numbers cited by Sullivan don't even factor in that Robinson is one of the best receiving backs in football.

Given that Penix is cheap on his rookie deal, it's the perfect time for the Falcons to shell out the big money to keep their star running back.

With Penix and Robinson in the backfield together for the foreseeable future, Atlanta's offense can be a potent one.

It'll all just depend on a solid, healthy 2025 season from Robinson setting him up for a huge payday.
