There are a bunch of storylines at Chiefs Training Camp, but the primary one is simple: KC fans are excited!
And why not, they’ve got a superstar quarterback to root for in Patrick Mahomes... the NFL’s top actor-slash tight end in Travis Kelce.. and the three-time defending AFC Championship team to cheer on.
No wonder fans packed St. Joe Friday and Saturday to watch practice.
One of the great thrills for longtime fans is being able to introduce their children to Chiefs football.
“You’ve got to be a Chiefs fan in Kansas City,” one mom told KCTV5’s Neal Jones, so (her son’s) going to be a Chief."
Lifelong fan Chris Williams says this is the perfect time to introduce kids to loving the Chiefs. “It’s beautiful man,” he said, “especially at this time- we’re winning, you can’t get any better than this.”
KC native “Coach T” brought his grand daughter, Bailey Duis- who lives on the east coast- to her first camp. she’s thrilled to be in St. Joe.
“Oh gosh, this is great, she smiled, “I never knew this was going to happen but a couple of days ago.”
She actually gets to watch her favorite players- in person. “It’s so surreal to be here,” she said, while her grandfather looked on.
The action on the field was fabulous, as was the cooler weather, which led to the largest crowds of the summer.
The workouts continue Sunday morning.
