Brittain Brown first came into the NFL as a seventh-round pick of the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2022 NFL Draft. He was an interesting project for the team to work on, but he only played in six games during the 2022 season.
He missed the entirety of the following season due to an injury. The Raiders decided to move on, and he spent much of the 2024 season on the practice squad for the Seattle Seahawks.
Though he hasn’t had a chance to show what he can do on the field, he’s getting another chance. The Chicago Bears announced that they’ve signed Brown to a contract.
Brown now joins new head coach Ben Johnson, who is known to love a robust running game. Raiders fans aren’t big fans of Johnson, considering he led the team on this offseason. It looked like he was seriously thinking about taking the Raiders’ head coach job before his agent came out and suggested that was never going to be the case.
He’ll now see if he can turn Brown into a productive NFL running back.
Brown’s Draftmate Zamir White Is Impressing Pete Carroll
Brown wasn’t the only running back the Raiders drafted in 2022. They also selected Zamir White in the fourth round.
Last year, he finally had a chance to earn the starting job following Josh Jacobs’ departure for the Green Bay Packers, but he eventually lost his job. It seemed like White didn’t have much of a future in Las Vegas after the team selected Ashton Jeanty with the No. 6 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
However, that might not be the case. New head coach Pete Carroll has been very impressed with White in training camp.
“He really has sent a message that he’s the hammer,” Carroll said of White in a previous press conference. “I love having different styles of running backs. His physicality that we’ve been celebrating with him, and we tell him we like the way he runs. Don’t try to be something that you’re not. Run heavy and run thick and tough like he does. I’m really excited about what he’s done.”
White was on the roster bubble heading into this offseason, but it sounds like he’ll be Jeanty’s primary backup this season.
Carroll is Happy With Raiders’ RB Group
Carroll has been loud with his praise of White, but he’s happy with the group as a whole. That’s going to make cut day very difficult when it comes to running backs.
Carroll made sure to share some high praise for the Raiders’ running backs.
“I’m really happy with the running back group,” Carroll said. “The variety of the styles that the guys have, I love. We have different kinds of makeups of guys. Zamir [White] kind of stands alone. He’s the biggest and strongest of the group and he really runs tough. … Sincere [McCormick], who didn’t get a lot of play time last year, did really well when he did. And he’s shown he’s got a real knack, got really, really, good quick feet that are real natural to the position.”
