ESPN points out the Denver Broncos as a potential free agent landing spot for former Pro-Bowler

ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler mentioned the Denver Broncos as a potential landing spot for one of the NFL's top free agents this offseason.

Fowler noted on Wednesday that running back Aaron Jones, who played for the Minnesota Vikings in 2024, could be a fit in Sean Payton's offense in Denver.

From ESPN: Jones is a slasher in the run game and has the dual-threat traits to catch the ball out of the backfield, with 51 receptions and 1,546 total yards for the Vikings in 2024. He is at his best in a zone run scheme that will highlight his receiving skills.

Fowler's latest: Expect Denver to look for a versatile back to bolster Sean Payton's offense. Could Jones fit the mold despite his age? He's the kind of runner/pass catcher who just might.

Jones, who turned 30 in December, was a Pro Bowler in 2020.

The former UTEP standout spent the first seven seasons of his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers before signing a one-year deal with divisional rival Minnesota ahead of the 2024 season.

Jones had a terrific season for the Vikings in 2024, rushing for 1,138 yards and five touchdowns in 17 games. He also caught 51 passes for 408 yards (second highest of Jones' career), and two touchdowns.

There's no doubt that Jones is in the twilight of his career, but he could be a versatile option (which Payton loves) in Denver's offense. If Jones is willing to sign another one-year deal, he could be a perfect option for the Broncos in 2025.
