ESPN Issues Wild Comparison of Commanders' Jayden Daniels to Patriots' Drake Maye

The Washington Commanders selected LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

And he has quickly become one of the best quarterbacks in the league.

But in a recent article by ESPN's Ben Solak, he compares the Commanders star to a rival in a rather wild way ... in our opinion. The writer gives some of his thoughts heading into the 2025 season, and one of them is comparing Daniels to New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye.

"The Commanders' fan base and team brass should feel confident and inspired about the future of the position. However, I'm still as -- if not more -- impressed by how well Drake Maye played on that terrible Patriots offense last season," Solak wrote. "I'll put it this way... Patriots fans should feel as confident and inspired about their future at quarterback as Commanders fans do right now."

To be fair ...

While it seems like an outlandish thing to say at first, Maye had a very different team around him than Daniels did when they both stepped in as the starting quarterbacks of their respective teams.

The Pats were 3-9 in Maye's time at the helm, but he was able to rack up 2,276 and 15 touchdowns in those 12 games. That would come out to just over 3,200 yards and 21 touchdowns if he had been starting all year.

Daniels clearly has the upper hand in the stat category, so only time will tell if Patriots fans can rejoice over their quarterback of the future the way that Commanders fans have been for a while now.
