ESPN expert weirdly predicts the Chiefs will help the Raiders in 2025 NFL Draft

Yeah, no thanks.
Raiders-Chiefs recap: Las Vegas wins at Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas Day - Silver And Black Pride

The Kansas City Chiefs hold the 31st pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and while the team has been known in the past to move out of the first round, doing so to help a division rival is not going to be in the plans. Well, Field Yates of ESPN predicted an AFC West trade involving the Chiefs and Raiders would happen in his latest mock draft.

Yates had the Chiefs and Raiders making a trade that would involve Las Vegas moving into the 31st slot to take Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III. The Chiefs would then be on the clock for the first time in the second round, taking Josh Simmons with the 37th pick. Landing Simmons in the second round would be solid value and K.C. would pick up some draft capital here.

That being said, doing business with a division rival rarely happens for a reason. Why would the Chiefs want to help the Raiders get better? To make matters worse here, why would they allow the Raiders to draft a player who played college ball roughly two and a half hours from Kansas City?

Chiefs hopefully don't follow Field Yates' prediction in mock draft

We all have fun joking about the Chiefs and Bills making draft day trades and those trades going on to help Kansas City beat the Bills. Even with those two becoming fierce rivals in recent years, they're not in the same division so it's nothing like helping out a divisional foe.

Imagine how frustrating it'd be if Burden turned out to be a burden(pun intended) for the Chiefs to stop. They'd only have themselves to blame in that situation. Even if adding some draft picks seems like a logical decision here, the Chiefs cannot allow their division rivals to add a player who could hurt them.

Yates was going for fun angles in his mock draft and I respect the effort but yeah, Chiefs Kingdom hopes he's way off the mark here for sure.
