The fairy tale dream of 2024 for the Philadelphia Eagles is one to remember, but it might not last past the start of the 2025 season.
Philadelphia steamrolled through the NFL last year with a 14-3 record and a dominating postseason run to win their second Lombardi Trophy. Everything went flawlessly from a record-breaking postseason offensive performance as a team to Eagles running back Saquon Barkley's NFL record of 2,504 rushing yards in a year.

Everything went flawlessly from a record-breaking postseason offensive performance as a team to Eagles running back Saquon Barkley's NFL record of 2,504 rushing yards in a year.
Now entering the new season, the Eagles' quiet offseason might end up biting them, given how many other teams improved their rosters.
Could the Eagles be in for a rude awakening in 2025?
FanSided writer Lou Scataglia shared his playoff predictions for the NFC in his latest article. Eagles fans will be disappointed to read that Scataglia has Philadelphia making the postseason, but as a fifth seed and not winning the NFC East.
Instead, the Washington Commanders are predicted to win the division and be the number one seed. Scataglia feels it will be a step-down season for the Eagles.
"The last time the Philadelphia Eagles appeared in the Super Bowl, they weren't nearly as good in the following season. This team has a ton of talent and is capable of getting back into the postseason, but it will be a more modest season."
Scataglia refers to the 2023 season, where the Eagles' 10-1 start ended with a disastrous 11-6 finish and a blowout loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card. Eagles fans would like to forget that season ever happened.
Something that isn't brought up as the most significant difference between 2023 and 2025 is the coordinators. The Eagles were forced to deal with Brian Johnson as offensive coordinator and Sean Desai as defensive coordinator. Johnson and Desai struggled in their new roles, resulting in Desai being demoted late in the season and Johnson being fired at the end of the year.
This year, the Eagles lost just Kellen Moore when he took the New Orleans Saints job, with Kevin Patullo taking over as offensive coordinator. Patullo was heavily involved in the offensive strategy last year as the passing game coordinator and associate head coach. This will make that transition easy and smooth for the offense.
The good news is that Vic Fangio has no desire to be a head coach and is sticking around as the defensive coordinator. That continuity was not there in 2023, resulting in hardship for the Eagles.
Philadelphia might have lost multiple players from the Super Bowl run, but the youth of this team should give Eagles fans hope that 2025 will be a strong season.
