Eagles Star Jalen Hurts Reveals Why He Didn’t Put on His Super Bowl Ring

Jalen Hurts achieved something in February that most young, red-blooded American men only dream about, by quarterbacking the Philadelphia Eagles to the Super Bowl championship in February.

But, perhaps surprisingly to many, Hurts has not even sported his Super Bowl ring — the symbol of that championship season.

Hurts revealed the reasoning behind why he has not put his Super Bowl ring on while addressing the press after Philadelphia’s first practice Wednesday.

The Eagles received their Super Bowl rings Friday at a ceremony before the start of training camp. Though Hurts posted photos of his ring, he was not captured wearing it.

The sixth-year quarterback is coming off his best season as a pro. Aside from winning the Super Bowl, Hurts was named MVP of the Eagles’ 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs and set a single-season completion percentage record (68.3).

Why Has Jalen Hurts Not Worn His Super Bowl Ring?

To hear Hurts explain why he has not yet donned his championship ring is understandable, yet it also offers a window into Philadelphia’s collective mindset entering the 2025 season.

“I’ve moved on to the new year,” Hurts said. “It’s as simple as that.”

Hurts has been the quarterback for the NFC champions in two of the past three seasons, but he spoke about learning from Philadelphia’s hangover-like 2023 season.

After losing Super Bowl LVII to the Chiefs, the Eagles started 10-1 yet lost six of their final seven games, including their 32-9 loss in the wild-card round to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“I think it’s purely about resetting,” Hurts said. “It’s a new journey. It’s a blank canvas … and regardless, whether you win a championship or lose a championship the next year you have to be able to reset and have the right focus and pursue it with great intensity and great passion and that’s where we are.

“We just want to continue building that chemistry we have.”

Hurts credits spending time with basketball icon Michael Jordan, who he said helped him advance his mindset.

“Being able to build that relationship and have those conversations [with Jordan], those are always helpful,” Hurts said.

When asked if the having his Super Bowl ring visible would motivate new players, or add to his credibility with new teammates, Hurts deflected.

“I don’t want to have the conversation about the rings that I have from the past nor the one we just received,” Hurts said. “It’s behind me.”

What Did Jalen Hurts Say About Kevin Patullo?

With Kellen Moore now the head coach of the New Orleans Saints, Hurts has a new offensive coordinator this season in Kevin Patullo.

Patullo was named one of the six coaches on ESPN’s players, coaches and GMs under the most pressure by writer Bill Barnwell.

“[Patullo] takes over a spectacular offense that returns 10 of 11 starters, with Philadelphia spending more cash on the offensive side of the ball ($215.9 million) than any other team in NFL history,” Barnwell wrote. “With Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown and arguably the league’s best offensive line, Eagles fans have every right to set their expectations incredibly high again.”

But Hurts says things are moving in the right direction with he and his now-former pass-game coordinator.

“I do feel a sense of intensity from Coach Kevin,” Hurts said. “That’s good to see.”
