Eagles Rival Takes One Step Closer to Losing Top Playmaker

The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to continue their recent run of dominance in the NFC East. Two out of the last three years, the season's final game was the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Eagles. Looking at the biggest threats in Philly's division, hoping to prevent a repeat, one team stands out.

With the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants both heading in the wrong direction, it is the Washington Commanders that are the lone threat to the Eagles in the East. With this in mind, the latest news from Philly's division rival is going to be welcomed by the excited fan base.

Star Washington receiver Terry McLaurin has made it clear to the team he is "frustrated" by where things stand. Entering the final year of his contract, the veteran is expecting an extension but isn't seeing any progress whatsoever. Considering how impactful the veteran was for star quarterback Jayden Daniels, it is fair to wonder if the receiver will ever have more leverage. Selfishly, it is easy to hope the situation continues to devolve and pushes the star receiver out of Philly's division.

Eagles Fans Are Excited by the Unexpected Drama Unfolding in Washington

Things have already grown bad enough to where the receiver left team workouts after initially showing up. It doesn't seem that this is the type of situation that is going to take care of itself. The veteran's actions are making it clear that he wants the team to take his contract concerns seriously.

If the Commanders continue to ignore the situation, the team could be forced to part ways with the star. Things devolving to this level would take away what threat the Commanders pose to the defending Super Bowl champions.

While the Commanders did beat the Eagles once in the 2024 season, it was with Jalen Hurts out with an injury. Washington beat Kenny Picket, but lost to the Eagles twice when Hurts was able to stay in the lineup. This gives further confidence that even if the star receiver does work out an extension to stay in Washington, the Commanders aren't quite at Philly's level just yet.

However, this is something that could quickly change based on a dynamic young quarterback and a defense the team has heavily invested in. This demands the Eagles keep an eye on the situation with the hope that perhaps it all will end with McLaurin landing outside of the NFC East.
