Eagles make smart decision on A.J. Brown while Jalen Hurts looks closer to playing vs Packers

One major key to a successful playoff run is keeping your star players healthy and that's exactly what the Philadelphia Eagles are doing as they get ready to face the Green Bay Packers in the wild card round.

Eagles make smart decision on A.J. Brown while Jalen Hurts looks closer to playing vs Packers

The Eagles took some extra precaution with starting wide receiver A.J. Brown (knee/rest) and let him completely rest on Thursday after having limited on Wednesday. Brown has been dealing with a lingering knee injury for a good chunk of the season so anytime he can take a break will benefit him.

Meanwhile, starting quarterback Jalen Hurts (concussion/left finger) practice as a full participant for the first time in two weeks.

The Eagles have not officially announced that Hurts is cleared from concussion protocol just yet, but this is a good sign.

The only other Eagles player who remained completely sidelined on Thursday was backup left guard Trevor Keegan (illness).

Eagles vs. Packers Wild Card Round Thursday Injury Report Observations

  • Quarterback Jalen Hurts's concussion happened in Week 16's loss to the Washington Commanders. He is still in concussion protocol and in order to clear the process he must practice and follow up with zero symptoms the following day.
  • Backup quarterback Kenny Pickett injured his ribs in Week 16, and then again in Week 17.
  • The Eagles resigned quarterback Ian Book to the practice squad for an emergency backup.
  • Philly also signed safety Lewis Cine to their 53-man roster for extra secondary depth.
  • Wide receiver A.J. Brown injured his knee ahead of Week 16's matchup but has played through the injury.
  • Wide receiver DeVonta Smith (wrist/rest) is off the injury report after landing on it last week.
  • Tight Dallas Goedert (knee) returned from Injured Reserve last week and played in the season finale.
  • Linebacker Nakobe Dean (abdomen) returned to action last week after missing Week 17's game with an abdomen injury.
  • The Eagles opened defensive tackle Byron Young's (hamstring) 21-day practice window.
  • Bryce Huff (wrist) played in the Eagles' last two regular-season games.
  • The only new names to pop up on Thursday's injury report were starting right tackle Lane Johnson (rest) and backup right tackle Jack Driscoll (ankle), who were both limited.
