The Philadelphia Eagles are just a couple days away from hosting the Washington Commanders with a spot in the Super Bowl on the line. The NFC Championship will go down in Philadelphia on Sunday, and the Eagles got some good news regarding quarterback Jalen Hurts and cornerback Quinyon Mitchell ahead of the game as both players were full participants in practice on Thursday. Hurts is battling a knee injury and he also recently cleared concussion protocol. Mitchell is fighting a shoulder injury.
“Eagles QB Jalen Hurts and CB Quinyon Mitchell both are listed as full participants in today’s practice,” Adam Schefter said in a post.
That is a good sign for Eagles fans as there as there are still two full days before the game. It's looking like both Jalen Hurts and Quinyon Mitchell should be good to go.
Hurts will obviously be needed this weekend as he is one of the most important players on the team, and he has put up some remarkable numbers this season. Hurts is 248-361 through the air this season for 2,903 yards, 18 touchdowns and five interceptions. What makes Hurts such a good QB, however, is his ability to run. He has 150 carries for 630 yards and 14 touchdowns. The Eagles will need Hurts to have a good game this weekend.
The Eagles will also need all hands on deck on defense as this Commanders offense presents a lot of challenges. Having Quinyon Mitchell would be huge as he has been an important player on this defense all year long. Mitchell has racked up 46 total tackles this season and he has 12 passes defended. Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has already solidified himself as a top QB in the league, and his legs are a big reason why. This defend will have their hands full.
Philadelphia got their playoff run started with a win against the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round. As the two seed, the Eagles stayed at home in the divisional round to play the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams put up a good fight and they had a chance to win it at the end, but the Eagles got the win.
The Commanders have been the story of the playoffs so far as they pulled off the upset of the postseason. After going on the road and taking down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Commanders hit the road again and beat the NFC one seed Detroit Lions. The Lions finished with best record in the NFL as they were 15-2, and they came into the playoffs as the betting favorite to win the Super Bowl. Washington beat Detroit 45-31.
Sunday's NFC Championship between the Eagles and Commanders will kick off at 3:00 ET from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, and the game will be airing on Fox. The Eagles are currently favored by six points.
