It's only a matter of time before the Miami Dolphins move Jalen Ramsey. The two sides are expected to work out a trade over the next few weeks, and with the NFL draft on Thursday, there's a good chance that Ramsey could be off the team by then.
The Dolphins have made many wrong decisions over the past few years, and it seems like giving Ramsay that long-term extension was one of them.
The Dolphins will now have to pay for giving him the contract he signed last year, which was a three-year deal worth $72.3 million. While Ramsey was very good for the Dolphins a season ago, posting an overall grade of 76.9, according to PFF, it looks like the relationship has run its course.
Searching for trades, NFL Trade Rumors proposed a deal to send him to the Las Vegas Raiders, adding that the Raiders have the cap space to make the deal for him.
“Figuring out which teams make the most sense for Ramsey starts with the teams currently near the top in available cap space. Even if Ramsey counts just around $5 million against the cap for an acquiring team in 2025, the cash cost of over $20 million is significant and will price out plenty of teams. The Raiders check the budget box, though, with over $42 million in cap space at the moment, $34 million once signing their draft class is factored in,” NFL TR wrote.
With the Raiders expected to be a better team than they looked entering the offseason, trading for Ramsey could be the cherry on top for this organization.
He could also be interested in playing for a storied organization like the Raiders, pairing him with Pete Carroll, one of the top defensive minds in the league.
