Veteran starter Tua Tagovailoa is back for a sixth season after signing a four-year, $212 million deal in 2024. The former No. 5 overall pick out of Alabama is lethal at times, but injuries are becoming an underlying concern.

The Dolphins added former Jets and Broncos quarterback Zach Wilson on a one-year deal this offseason. There is room, however, for another passer. And having a talented quarterback on a rookie deal could give Miami a long-term option.

According to a new NFL mock draft from Chad Reuter of NFL.com, the Dolphins are projected to land Oregon's Dillon Gabriel with the No. 116 overall pick in the fourth round.

Gabriel (5-foot-11, 205 pounds) isn't considered as a prototypical NFL quarterback given his size. But his production at the college level was as impressive as it gets.

The former UCF and Oklahoma transfer cemented his name in college football history in his lone season at Oregon in 2024. Gabriel is the FBS all-time leader in career touchdowns responsible for (189) and sits second all-time in career passing yards (18,722) after six seasons.

The Mililani, Hawaii, native completed 72.9% of his passes for 3,857 yards with 37 total touchdowns and six interceptions last season. The Big Ten Champion Ducks went undefeated in the regular season before losing in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals.

Whether Gabriel will be able to maintain his success at the NFL level is the big question. Considering how the Dolphins are set at the position, for now, could give Gabriel an opportunity to adjust as Miami evaluates its options.

The 2025 NFL Draft will take place from April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
