The Miami Dolphins have several positions to address to return to the playoffs or win the AFC East, potentially. Among the most significant areas of concern are two on the offensive line, multiple areas of the secondary, and the running back position.

Draft rumors and news continue to build up as round one approaches. CBS’s Jonathan Jones highlighted some of the biggest draft rumors and news, which feature many teams’ most crucial position needs, including the Dolphins.

The Dolphins have been reportedly questioning quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s short-term and long-term future as his durability has been an issue.

When Tagovailoa started for the Dolphins since 2020, Miami is 38-24. Without Tagovailoa as the starting quarterback, the Dolphins have won only nine of the 24 games played. Miami was 2-4 in games without Tagovailoa last season.

If he goes down with an injury in 2025, Miami turns to former second-overall pick Zach Wilson, who has a starting record of 12-21. The Dolphins need a more reliable backup option.

Miami have evaluated some quarterbacks through the draft process, including Louisville’s Tyler Shough.

Shough, Ohio State’s Will Howard, Texas’ Quinn Ewers, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, and Syracuse’s Kyle McCord are all players who could find their way to the Dolphins’ draft boards within rounds three to five.

The Dolphins have one third-round pick, two fourth-round picks, and two fifth-round picks. One of these picks could easily address the quarterback room with depth and be a potential starter if Tagovailoa gets injured.
