The Miami Dolphins have added a couple of depth pieces in Free Agency, but there are still plenty of holes across the roster. Miami needs a starting cornerback, safety (or two), offensive lineman (or two), and multiple bodies along the defensive front.
With so many needs, the Dolphins are a true wild card in the First Round of the 2025 NFL Draft. They could go any number of directions with their first selection, but one recent mock draft has them investing in the defensive backfield.
The latest mock draft from Mike Renner of CBS has Miami selecting Michigan cornerback Will Johnson at pick No. 13 in the First Round. According to Renner, "Pairing Will Johnson with Jalen Ramsey would give the Dolphins one of the most physical cornerback duos in the NFL. You'd better bring your lunch pail to face that duo."
Passing on offensive line help in the First Round would anger many Miami supporters, but it makes sense if the board falls this way. Renner has Missouri OT Armand Membou, LSU OT Will Campbell, Texas OT Kelvin Banks Jr., and Alabama G Tyler Booker all going in the Top 12.
Johnson would be a nice consolation prize in this scenario. Not only does he fill one of Miami's biggest needs, but he's also arguably the best player still available.
The former Michigan Two-Time All-American is a physical, aggressive boundary cornerback who fits perfectly in Defensive Coordinator Anthony Weaver's man-heavy scheme. Pairing him with 30-year-old Jalen Ramsey would give Miami one of the better cornerback duos in the league.
