On the Southern Charm After Show, Taylor Ann Green explained why it was "wrong" to encourage Molly O'Connell to pursue Shep Rose.
Southern Charm's Taylor Ann Green might be having second thoughts about giving Molly O'Connell the green light to date her ex, Shep Rose — but not for the reason you might think.
"She deserves a lot more than Shep," Taylor explained to castmate Rodrigo Reyes on the Southern Charm After Show video above. "She deserves someone who ... just offers a lot more than Shep does."
Even so, Taylor defended her reasoning for pairing Molly and Shep together — now that Sienna Evans is out of the picture — pointing to her own new relationship with Gaston Rojas..
"I love Molly," Taylor began. "I think that I was, like, trying to force her on him because I was just like, give him the next pretty thing, the next new, shiny beautiful human being, so that he’ll leave me and my relationship alone."
During Episode 14, Taylor had already mentioned why she thought Molly and Shep might be a good match. Describing their personalities as mutually "kind of quirky and weird," she added that they also share some of the same values, "other than the fact that Molly probably doesn’t cheat on people."
Ultimately, she and Rodrigo agreed that Molly is "smart enough" to know that dating Shep would be more "like fun and games," rather than a serious endgame romance, anyway.
"Maybe it was wrong of me, but I thought it was kind of entertaining," Taylor admitted on the After Show.
Does Molly O’Connell still want to date Shep Rose?
While walking their dogs in Episode 14, Molly revealed more to Taylor about her crush on Shep, insisting that it's nothing serious.
"I’m not, like, in love with Shep or anything," she claimed, later adding, "I've obviously seen Shep date people. I'm not, like, putting my eggs in that basket."
Even so, Taylor could still see enough reason for Molly to pursue her feelings.
"I just want her to maybe get out there and have some fun," she said in a confessional. "Maybe Shep is good practice. He's good practice getting back into the dating pool."
Having her fellow Southern Charm-ers interfere — like in the Bahamas when Austen Kroll tried to get Molly to see if Shep’s tongue tasted “like sandpaper” — hasn’t exactly been a pleasant experience for her though.
"Everybody is like, 'Ooh, you should go for Shep.' And I kind of feel like I'm in middle school," Molly told Taylor.
As she added in a confessional, "It's embarrassing. Not because Shep's done anything to make me feel stupid. It’s really everyone else in the group trying to be weird about everything."
Even Taylor agreed that it "seemed a little forced" and could see how people putting pressure on her might cause her to start putting pressure on herself.
How does Shep Rose feel about Molly O'Connell?
On an earlier Southern Charm After Show episode, Shep explained that he’s known Molly for more than a decade and that she’d even set him up with one of her friends after he and Taylor broke up.
"So I didn't think that there was any interest there," he said. "Then apparently some developed."
Despite learning about her feelings, Shep said he didn't hook up with Molly due to his complicated relationship with Sienna. "Obviously, things were puzzling to me at the time, but hooking up with somebody else would have screwed my head up even more," he explained.
Never say never, though. As Shep added of Molly on the After Show, "She's so real and so honest and she doesn't hold anything back. And authentic. Those are all wonderful qualities."
Speaking of honesty, don't miss how Shep reacted to Molly confessing she's "celibate" in the Bahamas.
