DK Metcalf could be traded from Seahawks, reunion with Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson possible

Russell Wilson and DK Metcalf have spent the past three seasons apart, but a reunion between both is a potential outcome.

Once upon a time, DK Metcalf famously inspired Pete Carroll to go shirtless in a meeting. As a star, Metcalf has also accrued some enemies. Now, the franchise receiver has watched the head coach move away. He’s also watched Russell Wilson depart for the Denver Broncos and then the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Geno Smith and Metcalf have gotten along well enough with the Seattle Seahawks receiver logging three seasons of at least 990 yards and five touchdowns. In those years, the Seahawks also have been on the plus side of .500, a welcome sight for any franchise.

However, Metcalf’s disappointment with fans has already been a topic broached this season. That disappointment might have spread to other parts of his relationship with the city and its football franchise.

DK Metcalf could be heading east

Sports Illustrated has reported that DK Metcalf might be dealt. The wide receiver is heading into the final year of his deal with the Seahawks, casting an air of uncertainty around his future.

The wide receiver’s next deal would come in an age 28 window that potentially could extend well into his 30s.

If the Seahawks don’t want to take any risks in that fashion, they might decide to trade him before the storm arrives, leaving that quandary for someone else to deal with.

That “someone else” could reportedly be the Las Vegas Raiders, CBS Sports report.

How Russell Wilson could rejoin DK Metcalf

Of course, the reason why Metcalf could join the Raiders is apparent: Pete Carroll.

Carroll and Metcalf go way back and the prospect of getting to coach the receiver while he’s still in his prime might be too good of a proposition to pass up.

At the same time, on the East Coast, Russell Wilson is staring down his final moments with the Pittsburgh Steelers. For the second time in two years, the quarterback is heading into free agency.

There are a number of potential landing spots for the quarterback. However, none might be more tempting than running it back with Pete Carroll for at least one more season.

As such, with the Raiders needing a quarterback and star receiver, Pete Carroll could be the magnet for both.

Theoretically, it wouldn’t be a stretch to double-dip on reuniting the Seattle Seahawks under a new banner. The New York Jets serve as a recent precedent with the addition of Aaron Rodgers bringing Randall Cobb, Davante Adams, and Nathaniel Hackett along for the ride.

Will the Las Vegas Raiders suddenly become flush with star power?
