DJ Moore Turns Heads Pitching Bears Trade for $80 Million WR

Confidence is high for the Chicago Bears and the future of their offense after the hiring of Ben Johnson as the team's new head coach.

Several Bears stars - including quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver DJ Moore - have lauded the team's decision to hire the creative mastermind behind the Detroit Lions offense over the past three seasons.

Adding to the excitement is also the fact that the Bears will be adding to their roster over the next three months between free agency and the 2025 NFL draft.

And if Moore could pick anyone for the Bears to target this offseason, he knows exactly who he would want to join him next year in Chicago's receiving corps.

During Wednesday's third day of Super Bowl Radio Row, Moore and fellow Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze joined the "Up & Adams" show and spoke about Johnson, the offseason and their expectations for the 2025 season.

Host Kay Adams also laid out a selection of wide receivers in attendance for the event - including Davante Adams and Cooper Kupp - and asked the pair of Bears whom they would pick out of all available players to join them in 2025.

"I'mma go Cooper," Moore said Wednesday. "He does it all in the slot, a good maneuverer. It's like the game is slow for him."

Odunze concurred with Moore's pitch for Kupp, citing his and Kupp's little-known connection from having the same wide receivers coach in college.

"I'd love to have Cooper Kupp, too. He's got ties with Junior Adams, my wide receiver coach at U-Dub [Washington], so that would be cool to see him."

Kupp figures to be one of the headliners on the NFL trade market in 2025 after he released a statement on Monday saying the Los Angeles Rams informed him they will be "seeking a trade immediately."

Over the past eight seasons, Kupp has caught 634 passes for 7,776 yards and 57 touchdowns. He also delivered a triple-crown season in 2021, during which he led the league in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947) and touchdown receptions (16) and earned recognition as the NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

The logistics of the Bears trading for Kupp would be tricky, though.

The 31-year-old wide receiver has two years remaining on his $80 million contract with cap hits of $29.78 million and $27.33 million in 2025 and 2026, respectively. He has also gradually seen his yards-per-game decline since 2021.

The Bears did make a bold trade for Keenan Allen during the 2024 offseason, but it remains to be seen whether they would consider it again.
