Dick Vitale on Alabama’s win over Auburn: ‘Justice is served’

Dick Vitale had one conclusion after No. 7 Alabama went on the road to defeat No. 1 Auburn 93-91 on Saturday in overtime.

“Are you serious?” Vitale said as Alabama’s Mark Sears hit a running jumper in the lane as time expired in overtime. “What a difference a week makes. What a difference a week makes. They lose on a last-second shot to Tennessee. You know what?

“Justice was served today in a way. Oh my God.”

Sears averages 2.5 made 3-pointers per game for the Crimson Tide, scoring 19.5 points. On Saturday, he admitted having a quiet day, scoring just nine points on 3 of 9 shooting and one made 3-pointer.

Vitale, however, feels Nate Oats’ team could gain a little momentum and crack the top line for the upcoming NCAA tournament.

“If they do well in the first couple of rounds of the SEC tournament, they could find themselves on the one line,” Vitale said. “This was a win they needed. They needed this win because the last seven games they played an incredible schedule. One tough game after another.”
