The Raiders have been linked to Shedeur Sanders for months, but could the Cowboys be the team that will make an aggressive move to take the most polarizing player in the 2025 draft?
Last week, Sports Illustrated’s Hondo Carpenter reported the Raiders might “ideally prefer” to trade down from the sixth pick, and one of the teams to watch could be the Dallas Cowboys.
According to Carpenter, Dallas is believed to be targeting a quarterback and may need to move up from the no. 12 pick to get the quarterback they want.
“Word is beginning to circulate because of pro days, interviews, and some other issues, that the Cowboys are definitely looking quarterback. Now, with that said, there are a lot of people, and you can go back and look at my very first mock draft. I had the Raiders trading down from six to 12 with the Cowboys,” Carpenter said on the Las Vegas Raiders Insider podcast last week.
And while rumors are all over the place this time of year, former Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant made an interesting comment on X about his former team potentially finding a way to bring Shedeur to Dallas.
Sanders is the one player that no one seems to know what to do with in this year’s draft, but most believe he is going to be a top-10 pick.
If the Cowboys want him, a trade to the no. 6 pick might be the most sensible move for Jerry Jones and the decision makers in Dallas.
There are organizations that will shy away from Sanders (for a number of reasons), but Jones is familiar with the Sanders family and would probably welcome the spotlight Shedeur would bring to the Cowboys.
If they can find a way to move up in the draft, Shedeur to the Cowboys actually makes a lot of sense.
Just a guess… but the Raiders would probably be more than willing to help the Cowboys make it happen.
