Despite 'Hollywood' Signing Chiefs Receiver Room Needs Attention

It was a move that made sense for most, and it appears the Kansas City Chiefs thought so, too. Receiver Marquise Brown will return in 2025 after agreeing to a one-year deal worth up to $11 million, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

That is a good first piece of business for the Chiefs as Brown, who didn't see the field in competitive action until Week 16 as injury derailed his campaign.

Despite 'Hollywood' Signing Chiefs Receiver Room Needs Attention

Upon his return, Brown, in the regular season posted totals of 45 and 46 yards while having 50 yards and three receptions in the playoffs.

So there is plenty to work with and another offseason to get acclimated with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid's offense, it is no wonder that some are bullish on what Brown could offer the Chiefs.

However, while Brown's re-signing is a good first step, the Chiefs still have a mountain of work to do to get the receiver room in order.

Juju Smith-Schuster, DeAndre Hopkins, Mecole Hardman, and Justin Watson are all going to be free agents, and with Xavier Worthy's recent arrest, it isn't known if he will miss any games through suspension.

That leaves Mahomes with the returning Rashee Rice, Noah Gray, and the 35-year-old Travis Kelce as the main options. Plus, we aren't sure how "healthy" Rice will be coming off his injury.

So yes, Brown's return is good for the offense, but as we have just outlined, general manager Brett Veach has plenty of work to do before the receiver room is NFL-ready.
