Derrick Henry’s offseason workouts: ‘I about died twice out there’

Tennessee Titans star Derrick Henry is known for his brutal running style and unmatched physicality, but even the NFL’s most feared ball carrier admits his offseason training can push him to the brink.

Speaking with reporters this week, Henry gave a candid — and slightly alarming — review of his summer workouts. “I about died twice out there,” he said with a laugh. “It’s no joke. We go hard.”

Henry, 30, is famous for posting jaw-dropping workout clips every offseason — flipping massive tires, sprinting uphill with resistance bands, and performing strength drills that look more suited for superheroes than humans. This year, his regimen has been even more intense as he prepares for a pivotal season, one that could define his future with the Titans.

“The goal is to be ready for every situation, every hit, every fourth quarter,” Henry explained. “You have to put yourself in uncomfortable situations so the game feels easy.”

Teammates have taken note of his commitment, with several joining in for parts of his training sessions. “You think you’re in shape until you work out with Derrick,” one teammate joked. “Then you realize you’ve got a long way to go.”

Despite the grueling nature of the workouts, Henry insists it’s all worth it when the season begins. “You can’t fake preparation,” he said. “When the moment comes, you either have it or you don’t. I want to have it every time.”

For fans, Henry’s offseason grind is another reminder that his dominance on Sundays is no accident — it’s the result of relentless, punishing work when the cameras aren’t rolling.
