The Denver Broncos have not gotten to the start they hoped for in 2024. The team has lost their first two games of the season under rookie quarterback Bo Nix, and he has been taking a lot of heat from fans. However, Denver’s backup options aren’t much more enticing, which would be Jarrett Stidham and veteran Zach Wilson, who have both had a difficult career in the NFL. ESPN has recently proposed a trade that would send Wilson to the Los Angeles Rams, which would be the quarterback’s third team.
The proposal has Wilson going to the Rams to give them a high-ceiling developmental quarterback, as their current backups are veterans Jimmy Garoppolo and Stenson Bennett. With Wilson being the third-stringer in Denver, his potential for development is at a roadblock with the rookie Nix as the current starter. Going to Los Angeles could boost his play, and even become the successor to Matthew Stafford once he retires.
Why the Los Angeles Rams Make Sense
While many might argue that Wilson has already reached his ceiling, head coach Sean McVay has been known to help quarterbacks reach a new potential, and Jared Goff and Baker Mayfield are a great example of that. Since being drafted by the New York Jets in 2021, Wilson has amounted to 6,293 passing yards and 23 touchdowns. His departure from New York has analysts hopeful that he will find another starting job in the NFL soon.
If Wilson is not traded to the Rams, it is still very likely that he will be on another team by the trade deadline. More suitors include the Miami Dolphins, Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers, and the Tennessee Titans. Where do you think Wilson will end up, and will we see him starting this season?
