The Denver Broncos made a surprising run to the NFL playoffs last season. Behind an impressive rookie season from quarterback Bo Nix, the team showed big-time potential for years to come.
Heading into the 2025 NFL draft in under three weeks, the Broncos will have an opportunity to land more young talent to build onto their young core.
As Denver continues to work its way towards Super Bowl contention, building around Nix is a clear priority. One area the Broncos need to improve is in the backfield alongside Nix at the running back position.
With that being said, there are a lot of talented running backs available in the 2025 draft.
A new prediction has come in that would see Denver landing a highly talented running back. It would be great news for Nix if the prediction became a reality.
Reese Decker of Pro Football Network has released a new mock draft that has the Broncos landing North Carolina playmaking running back Omarion Hampton with the No. 20 overall pick in the first round.
"The two-time first-team All-ACC selection and CSN ACC Running Back of the Year boasts elite change-of-direction skills, lightning-quick burst, breakaway speed, powerful leg drive, patience, and exceptional vision," Decker wrote. "Pairing Omarion Hampton with an offensive skill group that includes Evan Engram and Courtland Sutton creates layers of complexity to an already difficult offense to scheme against."
During the 2024 college football season with the Tar Heels, Hampton carried the football 281 times for 1,660 yards and 15 touchdowns. He averaged an impressive 5.9 yards per carry.
In addition to his rushing totals, Hampton caught 38 passes for 373 yards and two touchdowns as well.
Denver has multiple directions it could choose to go in the draft, but landing a long-term running back like Hampton would be a huge help to Nix and the offense.
