Denver Broncos Icon Slams Russell Wilson Over Failed Stint

Rusell Wilson has moved on from the Denver Broncos. At this point, however, it is clear that more than a few members of Broncos Nation haven’t exactly been able to come to terms with the fact that the Wilson experiment failed so miserably.

One man who’s clearly still feeling salty about all this is Denver icon Mark Schlereth. In a recent interview, the three-time Super Bowl champion guard did not hold back in his most recent round of criticism of the newly-appointed Pittsburgh Steelers QB1.

Denver Broncos News: Mark Schlereth Rips Russell Wilson

Apparently, Schlereth can’t move on from the fact that Wilson seems to be blaming everyone and everything else for his failed Broncos stint other than himself:

“I think when you’re delusional, you think you can point the finger at eight million different places that say, ‘This is why this happened. This is why,’” Schlereth said (h/t Jarrett Bailey of Behind the Steel Curtain). “That toxic positivity and surrounding yourself with people that basically [tell you] ‘It’s not your fault man.’ I mean, that’s not derogatory, that’s just a fact.”

Needless to say, Schlereth is not a fan of Russ.

This also isn’t the first time Schlereth went scorched earth on the former Broncos QB. In an earlier statement, the two-time Pro Bowler claimed that Wilson is washed:

“The way Russ played, the way he’s played the last couple years, he’s diminished,” Schlereth said. “He doesn’t throw the ball in the middle of the football field, he doesn’t anticipate throws. You can sit here and tell me all day long 26 TDs, eight interceptions – I’ll tell you garbage numbers. The things he does, he’s just not good enough anymore.”

The silver lining for Schlereth and the Broncos is that Russell is no longer their problem. Unfortunately, they will still feel the financial implications of his massive contract for the years to come.
