DeMarcus Lawrence set the internet on fire Thursday evening. Joining the Seattle Seahawks on a three-year deal, he claims to have left the Dallas Cowboys because he did not believe winning a Super Bowl was possible. Micah Parsons responded, calling out his former teammate.
The back and forth has continued and Lawrence has fired another shot. He doubled down on his comments before saying he would have stayed with the Cowboys had Parsons gotten off Twitter.
“Calling me a clown won’t change the fact that I told the truth,” Lawrence said via X. “Maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time winning, I wouldn’t have left.”
Parsons has not been shy about his social media use, even during the season. The Cowboys star hosts a podcast and discusses a wide range of topics. Dallas could be having a tough season, like they just did in 2024, but Parsons still allows his voice to be heard.
Lawrence apparently had an issue with Parsons’ social media usage or is at least making his thoughts known about it now. Now a Seahawk, Lawrence is no longer set to line up on the opposite side of Parsons.
You have to wonder if Lawrence’s most recent tweet is the end of the conversation. At the time of posting, Parsons has yet to respond.
Nothing can be settled on the field either as Dallas and Seattle are not set to play during the 2025 season. Maybe if both teams can make the playoffs, there will be a reunion between the pass rushers with a lot more than personal pride on the line.
DeMarcus Lawrence takes original shot at Dallas Cowboys
DeMarcus Lawrence took a shot at the Dallas Cowboys after signing with the Seattle Seahawks this week. While speaking with Seahawks reporter Brian Nemhauser, Lawrence talked about how much he’s going to miss playing for the Cowboys and why he had to leave.
“Dallas is my home… But I know for sure I’m not gonna win a Super Bowl there,” Lawrence told Nemhauser. In his 11 seasons in Dallas, Lawrence played in nine playoff games and never reached the Super Bowl.”
The Cowboys selected Lawrence in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. In 141 games, the former Boise State star recorded 61.5 sacks, 21 forced fumbles, and eight fumble recoveries. Lawrence played in all 17 regular-season games in 2022 and 2023 but missed the majority of the 2024 season after suffering a broken foot after four games.
