A new development has just confirmed former captain Bo Horvat's fate with the Vancouver Canucks...

"Return-wise, we have to imagine that if the Islanders are looking to trade Horvat, it's because they're refocusing on their younger core.

That probably means they're looking for primarily picks and prospects coming back. And while that's not ideal for the Canucks, perhaps there is something they can put together." Roget said.

Bo Horvat will not be joining the Vancouver Canucks this offseason

As a Canucks fan favorite and a former captain, Horvat was one of the most exciting offseason prospects for general manager Patrik Allvin to look at.

Horvat, 30, was selected ninth overall by the Canucks in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and went on to spent parts of nine seasons with the team before being traded to the New York Islanders in January 2023.

But, it appears that his fate has already been decided.

Unfortunately for the Canucks, a new report has confirmed that the New York Islanders have made it known to both Bo Horvat and Mathew Barzal that they will not be getting traded this offseason.

Ahead of the draft in which they hold the No. 1 overall pick, the Islanders have made it known that top forwards Mathew Barzal and Bo Horvat will not be traded, reports Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic.

In 81 games last season for the Isles, Horvat scored 28 goals and 29 assists for 57 points.

With Vancouver not holding a lot incentive for free-agents to want to sign here, it was looking like targeting a former player and fan favorite would be a great strategy to get a big name, but now management has to go back tot he drawing board.
